There are real monsters out there. The worst part is that they're human.

Nathan found Caitlin on a beach covered in blood. Saving her life was just the start. Now he's the prime suspect and he has to find out who's really responsible. Both of their lives depend on it.

Who hurt her?

Why was he shot?

What did he promise?

Why doesn't his story add up?

What did he promise?

Here's what

Fans are saying

Author Demelza Carlton has written a bit of Australiana with a dark, twisting underbelly. It's complex. It's alternately charming and a bit uncomfortable, and it demands your full attention as you navigate the labyrinth of memory and abuse that leaves the reader to decide who is the victim, and who is the liar.

This book had me spell-bound.

From the opening the author draws the reader into the terrible nightmares of Caitlin as she struggles to come to terms with the horrific ordeal she has endured.

Their relationship is fragile yet his need to look after her is endearing. He is a very real character and I think that is a lot of his appeal. He wants to care for her but she also arouses natural urges in him which he fights to control.

Author Bio

Demelza Carlton

Demelza Carlton has always loved the ocean, but on her first snorkelling trip she found she was afraid of fish. She has since swum with sea lions, sharks and sea cucumbers and stood on spray-drenched cliffs over a seething sea as a seven-metre cyclonic swell surged in, shattering a shipwreck below.

Sensationalist spin? No - Demelza tends to take a camera with her so she can capture and share the moment later; shipwrecks, sharks and all.

Demelza now lives in Perth, Western Australia, the shark attack capital of the world.
